Welcome to the centre of Mauritius!

The centre of Mauritius shouldn’t be overlooked! While visitors often head for the coastal resorts, there are mountains, mansions and shopping malls to discover inland.

You can follow in the footsteps of Charles Darwin and hike for around two hours to the top of Le Pouce Mountain for a great view over Port Louis. There’s also Pieter Both mountain, one of the most beautiful mountain peaks on the island, best tackled with a local guide.

The island’s historic homes are ready to be discovered, so take the chance to dine inside a colonial house at Le Domaine des Aubineaux in Curepipe, which was built in 1872. Alternatively, roam around Eureka House in Moka. Eureka House was built around 1836 and is now a museum, so you can learn about the island’s history inside the house and take time to wander around the grounds, admiring the gardens and mini waterfalls.

There are lots of places to go shopping in the centre of Mauritius. Modern shopping malls include Les Arcade Currimjee, Bagatelle Mall and Tribeca Central. You can also find La City Trianon and Phoenix Mall in Quatres-Bornes, which are easily reachable on the Metro Express. The Metro Express links Port Louis with Curepipe in the centre of Mauritius and, in Curepipe, you’ll find a volcanic crater called Trou aux Cerfs!

Gymkhana Club Golf Course in the centre of the island is one of the oldest golf clubs in the southern hemisphere and golf has been played here since 1844. Comprising 18 holes, six of which are par-3, the Gymkhana Club is also home to a night driving range, so come and tee-off during your stay.

We hope to see you in the centre of Mauritius soon!
