Welcome to the west of Mauritius!

This part of the island offers dreamy sunsets, astounding nature and stunning beaches – with a very chilled pace of life.

Beaches on the west coast are pretty perfect and there are some fantastic diving and snorkelling spots to explore, such as Crystal Rock. Head to Le Morne on the southwest coast if you are a keen kitesurfer. It is renowned for its strong, consistent tradewinds and you’ll find famous kitesurfing spots such as One Eye and plenty of schools to teach you how to do it.

You’ll see Le Morne Brabant pretty much wherever you go on the west coast, an iconic mountain that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has a fascinating history, so find out more during your time on the island.

If you are looking for adventure, visit Black River Gorges National Park. It is a hiker’s dream, with 50 km of marked trails, waterfalls and look-out points. Enjoy a birdwatching hike with a biologist for local insight and keep a look-out for wild boar, deer and macaque monkeys.

You can try some street food in Tamarin Bay, take a stroll up to Phare d’Albion Lighthouse or watch the sunset in one of our many beach bars while a DJ plays some tunes! And for the best view of our ‘underwater’ waterfall, book a scenic seaplane ride!

We hope to see you in the west of Mauritius soon!
