Sai Nursery and Plant Propagation Center (SNPPC)

The aim of the Sai Nursery and Plant Programme (SNPP) is to propagate different species of plants and trees which will contribute in safeguarding the eco-system and maintain a healthy environment. The programme is managed by the SNPP committee (SNPPC).

 

The programme consists of the following:

• Collection and germination of seeds of plants and trees (fruits, medicinal, decorative  or exotic plants).

• Growing with care and love, the seedlings and transplanting the plant, when it    

   become mature, into the soil.

• Reproduction of plants and trees by other proven techniques.

• Distribution and exchange of plants

 

Family level

Initiating individuals to produce plants on a small scale at home and to dispose some to the poor, sick and needy people of their locality. Plants produced at this level could be spicy (herb), local fruit trees and medicinal plants.

 

Community level

Organising for the embellishment of villages and other localities.

Sensitising inhabitants to mitigate the causes of global warming.

Distribution of plants.

Encouraging fruits production.

 

National level

Propagation of different varieties of plants.

Help in planting of trees for embellishment in public places.

Help in planting endemic trees and medicinal plants.
