A blissful Sunday with Prof K.R Vedanarayanan demystifying the Vedas

Professor VedaNarayanan held his second talk on Sunday 28th October at the seat of the Sathya Sai Centre of Curepipe, Wootun. The event, hosted by the National Council, focused on the theme of ‘The Scientific Secrets of Vedas for a Successful Life’ and was attended by around 500 devotees and guests from Socio-Cultural Groups of the island.
The day started at 09.30 with the customary Veda Procession into the packed hall. It was indeed a blessed treat to the eyes to hear Prof Vedanarayanan leading the mass chanting of Rudram in Mauritius. Indeed, a historical day for the SSIOM! After a short and melodious bhajan session, Brother Rajendranath Sham, the National Chairman of the SSIOM introduced our esteemed guest as ‘a living inspiration’. Brother Sham highlighted on the relentless yearning of fellow Mauritian devotees to welcome Prof VedaNarayanan and qualified his presence amongst us as a ‘lifetime experience for the Sai Community in Mauritius’.
After offering his prayerful salutations to our Beloved Mother Sai, Prof VedaNarayanan started off his session by sharing his first impressions on today’s audience: he expected a congregation of 80+ years old, but is surprised to find that most of the attendees were 18+. Moving on, he pointed out that the topic of the day is an ancient as well as modern one. He also stressed on the fact that thanks to our beloved Swami, the Vedas have left the shores of India and have spread far and wide!
The wonderful expose ended with a standing ovation followed by a Q & A slot which provided the audience with further elucidation of the scriptural literature. Seizing the golden opportunity of having Prof Vedanarayanan in our midst, the National Devotion wing awarded certificates to 20 devotees having completed the Veda Chanting course which started in July 2018 under the guidance of Bother Vikesh Obhoyram, the National Devotion Coordinator. A token of love was presented to our illustrious invitee by Brother Sham and the day ended with MangalaArti to our Beloved Lord.
